Biographical Notes Of Antonie Augustus Bruijn (1842-1890)
Antonie Augustus Bruijn entered the service of the Koninklikje Marine (Royal Dutch Navy) at an early age, as this was tradition in his family. After ten years of this dedication to the Koninklikje Marine (Royal Dutch Navy), Bruijn was honourably discharged in 1867. After his retirement, he moved to Ternate, one of the most important harbour in Indonesia, in which he stayed several times during his service in the Navy.
In Ternate, A. A. Bruijn was known as a trader in naturalia. During his life in Ternate, he found many new species as well birds as other animals, which later were named after Bruijn.
